All Micah True wants is the chance to be accepted for who he really is-but that proves to be a difficult task given the circumstances that surround his society. Micah lives in a world where he is the minority until one day he happens to meet Neve, a girl unlike anyone he has ever met before, yet a girl very much like himself, including the piercing green eyes they share amongst a society of varying shades of blue. Following his grandmother's dying words, Micah seeks to find truth and comfort in a society that has only provided him with grief and intolerance. With Neve at his side, he gains the confidence to finally be true to himself, but will she help or hinder their journey?

I really like the premise of the book and the writing. Although an unlikely scenario, the book is thought provoking and exemplifies the absurdities in the inequalities of sexual preference. The author writes in a way that is very engaging and easy to read. Personally, I felt the events in the book escalated rather quickly.Product details

Never eBook Carrie Mattern Dan Waltz Reviews
Four stars for the sociological thought provoking premise.
"Never" was a great read. Once I started reading it,I couldn't put the book down until I was done. It actually makes you think.... Could this really happen?
A real page turner - thought provoking and written in a manner that flips what we consider to be the "norm" completely upside down, all the while drawing the audience in through excellent use of descriptive language.
I read it a couple of times and found things that I missed in the first go around. This authors perspective was much different than I expected and turned out that my perspective has changed. This is a gotta read kind of book!
One of those delicious literary gems which leaves a reader wanting more! The premise is original (being straight in a gay world) and the many philosophical/moral/psychological issues raised make this not only a YA novel, but one for any age/stage/gender. Mattern once again proves her diversity and exceptional talent in this timeless sci-fi tale! Leaves us wanting more…
Just finished Mattern's YA novel last night and had to write! Micah and Neve's forbidden bond forces them to take risks no 17-year-old should have to take. The timely themes are ones that teens willl recognize and the romantic tension will keep them reading to the last page. Mattern's novel can be appreciated by older readers as well. Micah will stay with readers long after the last page. Parents and teens could read together for some great discussion.
