This suspense novel by Paul Robbins has wonderful characters and keeps you absorbed in the story from beginning to end. The characters are so easy to picture, I imagine it could easily be turned into a movie with Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck in the main roles. Aside from the mystery/suspense plot which holds your interest - I couldn't put it down until I found out what happened! - the way the author develops the romance storyline is a very realistic take on how two caring people develop a relationship based on genuine positive regard for each other. The author's perspectives on male-female relationships ring true and draw in the reader to care about them as individuals and to root for a happy ending. This is a great read and I would recommend it for anyone.Product details

In this his latest novel, author Paul R. Robbins cleverly draws the reader into a web of mystery that involves a very real cast of characters from high society to strip club bawdy. While the story itself is involving, it is the development of relationships that propels the narrative. Mercedes and Mark are found to be ill suited for the future together that she has in mind. How this problem gets worked out as they travel down South and around Virginia looking for clues to her late mother's past ends up being both surprising and fitting. The book is filled with insights written in a style that is solid and unadorned yet in many ways poetic. There is romance, disenchantment, rivalry and regrets as the past becomes clear and the future takes shape. A most enjoyable and engaging read.
